TANDBERG (now part of Cisco) VCS Software Version X5.2 now available! 01 September 2010

New Features
---------------

Telephone event interworking
The VCS now supports the interworking of DTMF events between SIP and H.323. This allows SIP devices to dial into PIN protected conferences and to select conferences using the DTMF menu.
There are the following limitations:
-4 Audio packets are dropped each time DTMF is interworked from H323 to SIP. This means that DTMF will only work if there are audio packets flowing from H323 to SIP.
- The duration of events is not interworked, only fixed constants are supported.

Encrypted calls to Microsoft OCS Server 2007
Encrypted calls to and from Microsoft OCS Server 2007 for both native SIP calls and calls interworked from H323 are now supported. This feature is enabled by the new Enhanced OCS Collaboration option key. Note that as the VCS must process the media in both scenarios, a traversal call license will be used.

Message waiting indication
The VCS now supports forwarding of unsolicited NOTIFY messages to registered endpoints. This allows message waiting indication from CUCM to be forwarded to E20s thus allowing the indicator light to flash.

TMS 12.6 integration
The latest packages of the TMSAgent DeviceProvisioning-3.1-1 and VCSDatabase-2.0.1-1 that were released with TMS 12.6 have been incorporated in X5.2 as default. This means that customers upgrading to X5.2 do not need to install these packages separately. Customers running X5.1.1 with these latest packages installed may upgrade to X5.2 without any additional upgrade steps

Changes and improvements since previous version
---------------------------------------------------------

Ports
- The VCS no longer listens on multicast/port 1718 when H.323 Gatekeeper Auto discover mode is set to Off (this has the effect of disabling IGMP messages).
- A VCS Control no longer listens on multiplexing ports 2776 and 2777 as these are used only on VCS Expressways.

Interoperability
- VCS no longer rejects LRQ messages that contain more than 10 sourceInfo identities.
- VCS now interworks all space-delimited SDP capability parameters.
- Payload number reuse within interworking now fully complies with RFC 3264 section 8.3.2.

Call bandwidth
The maximum value for the default call bandwidth on a VCS has been increased from 2048 kbps to 65535 kbps.

Presence
Default timers for the Presence User Agent retry attempts have been increased to prevent resources being consumed. Existing configured values remain unchanged after an upgrade from a previous release, but they may be manually reconfigured to take advantage of the increased defaults.
- The default Subscription expiration time has increased from 300 to 3600 seconds.
- The default Publication expiration time has increased from 120 to 1800 seconds.
- The default PUA resend time (not configurable through the web interface) has increased from 5 to 1800 seconds.

Security
A fix has been applied for TLS renegotiation vulnerability CVE-2009-3555.
Firewall traversal
An issue where a VCS Expressway would send an Assent probe with an incorrect interface address (in certain traversal configurations where dual interfaces are used) has been fixed.

Stability improvements
-------------------------

Stability improvements have been made in the following areas:
- Interworked calls from SIP to H.323 where the SIP side does not support BFCP.
- H.323 endpoints sending an FECC RTP packet with a header (but no payload).
- Receipt of SDP containing multi-layered multipart MIME.
- Management of media resources when SIP calls are received and cancelled towards destinations that are already in a call.

New features

Flash player support and Wowza Media Server integration
S4.0 adds support for a new streaming and downloadable format, MPEG-4 for Flash. Conferences in this format can be played back on Macs and PCs which have Flash Player 9 Update 3 or higher installed.

By default, the Content Server supports only on demand progressive download of MPEG-4 for Flash.

True (rtmp) live and on demand streaming is available when using an external Wowza Media Server. Wowza Media server settings must be entered in Management Settings> Media Servers> Add Wowza Media Server for Flash Configuration.

AAC-LD support
S4.0 now supports the AAC-LD audio codec. It is on by default, and can be controlled by editing Management Settings> Call Configurations.

Recording countdown
The Content Server can now display a 5 second countdown at the far end endpoint before recording starts. Select Show countdown before recording in the Recording settings section of the Recording alias to enable this feature.

Email notification
You can now choose to have an email sent out on completion of a call to the email address specified in the Recording alias. To enable this feature site wide, first select the option to Send email when conference finishes and enter details of an external SMTP server in the Email settings section of Management Settings > Site Settings. Next, select the option to Send email when conference finishes in your Recording alias, and enter an email address.

Advanced streaming options
You can now customize target streaming bit rates for small and medium size outputs in the Advanced streaming options section of Management Settings > Site Settings. Streaming outputs will never exceed the set target bit rate.
Bit rates for large outputs are always set to the maximum rate (based on the conference call speed) and cannot be customized.

Advanced option for making conferences available
You can now change the default behavior (conferences are available for viewing as soon as the call has completed) and 'hide' your conference from users by deselecting the option to Automatically make recorded conference available in your personal Recording alias. Conferences recorded with this alias will display a Not available for viewing warning for site managers and conference editors, and will not be displayed to other users at all. To make conferences available for viewing, site managers and conference editors must select Make conference available from the Edit link.

Restriction: This option is not available for system Recording aliases.

Improvements to cropped and concatenated conference downloads
The Content Server will now automatically delete existing downloads and start retranscoding new downloadable outputs for conferences that have been cropped or joined (concatenated) using the Content Editor.

User preferences for guests
User preferences with information about the detected internet speed and available players are now available for guest (unauthenticated) users.

New access list check
You can now use the Check access list button to display all users matching your text entry in the conference permissions section of the Recording alias or conference edit page. Only users or groups added to the Content Server through the Add Groups and users page can be saved in access lists.
Improvements to groups and users
• The Add Groups or users page now provides separate entry boxes for entering users and groups.
• You must now enter groups in the format groupname instead of @groupname.
• You can now filter the display on the Groups and Users page to show Groups and users, Only groups or Only users.

General usability web UI improvements
There have been a number of improvements in S4.0:
• You can now enable an option to display the Content Server system name in the browser's title bar when using the Content Server's web interface. This is set by option Show in browser title in Management Settings > Site Settings.
• The Content Server can now display all H.323 registrations for system and Recording aliases from Site Settings > View all gatekeeper registrations.

Restriction: This functionality is not available on clustered Content Servers.

• Users with a Viewer or Creator role who have conferences they can edit will now have the option to select Show only conferences I can edit on the Recorded conference page.
• It is now possible for the conference creator to edit and save conference information and permissions while the conference is being recorded.
• The Content Server Manage Outputs page now displays the conference title, thumbnail, call speed, target bit rates for streaming outputs and whether Dual video was activated in the call. If a conference was recorded without Dual video, the only layout available for conference outputs will be a Single video layout.
• Site managers can now delete default system Recording aliases as well as system templates and call configurations which are not used by Recording aliases.
• Site managers can now modify default system templates and call configurations.
• You now have an option to email the conference URL after clicking on the Share link.
• The Content Server will now highlight the item (conference, template, recording alias) you were editing when returning from an edit page to the main list, for example, going back from the edit conference page to the Recorded conferences page.

API improvements
Added new Content Server API function calls for adding and removing additional management systems. See the Content Server API Guide for more information.

New and updated documentation
• New full online documentation is now available by clicking on the Help link from the web UI. The online help includes an index that is displayed by clicking the Index link in any help topic. The online help has replaced the Administrator Guide.
• A new Getting Started Guide detailing installation and initial configuration steps has replaced the installation sheet.
• Updated context sensitive information is also provided for form fields and drop-down menus by clicking on the icon next to the field or menu item.

TANDBERG Movi Software Version 3.0 now available! December 2009 08 December 2009

New features
New look
Movi version 3.0 has new colors, new icons, and an overall new user interface. The application has been split into a control window and a video window.
The control window
The control window comes up when you sign in to Movi. It contains everything related to making a call, and access to Movi's settings.
The control window is where you can change your presence status, edit the My contacts list, and find information about Recent calls you have made or received. Selfview may also be launched from the Movi control window.
The presence status button in the control window has changed since Movi 2.2. You should now click on the drop-down button that displays your current status, to select a new status from the menu. Clicking on your own name will now reveal your SIP URI below your name.

The video window
The video window will launch automatically when a call is made or answered, or when selfview is turned on from the control window.
The video window's pop-up toolbar contains actions needed during a call:
• Selfview on/off - will be displayed as a PiP (picture in picture) during calls
• Camera on/off
• Microphone on/off
• Volume control - slide to adjust, click to mute/unmute
• Fullscreen on/off
• Presentation sharing (see below)
• Keypad for DTMF input
• End call

Notifications
Indicators will be displayed in the video window when the camera or the microphone is switched off, the call quality changes, or a presentation is being shared.
Make Movi stay on top
The push-pin icon on each window bar will "pin to top", that is, make sure the Movi window stays visible on top of other applications you are using.
Presentation sharing with duo video
Movi version 3.0 can send and receive duo video in H.264 and H.263.
When Movi receives a presentation, the main video will be shown as a picture in picture. You may drag and drop this PiP inside the video window to where it is most conveniently placed. Double-clicking on the PiP will focus the presentation.
Sharing a presentation
You can select an application to share as a presentation from the video window's toolbar. The option to stop the presentation is found by clicking the same button again.
If Movi is in a call and you launch presentation or fullscreen mode in PowerPoint or another application, Movi will ask if that presentation should be shared. Movi will then stop sharing automatically when you exit presentation mode in the application.
Device selection in Movi
When several audio input or output devices are present, you may now specify in Movi's settings which microphone, headset/loudspeakers or camera Movi should be using. Open the Settings dialog and select Devices to change audio input, audio output, or video input device.
Video quality and performance improvements
Optimized for HD
Movi 3.0 has a CPU-efficient M-JPEG decoder, allowing USB cameras that send HD quality using M-JPEG format, such as the TANDBERG PrecisionHD USB camera, to send HD video at relatively low CPU cost.
Movi also has special H.264 encoding optimization for the TANDBERG PrecisionHD USB camera, to let the client send HD at relatively low bandwidth in well-lit and low motion video calls.
CPU awareness
Movi version 3.0 will inform you when the CPU usage is high. If the high CPU usage is caused by Movi, the video resolution will be reduced automatically, and the user will be notified. If the high CPU usage is caused by other applications, Movi will inform the user of this and suggest closing other applications.
Bandwidth awareness
As a mobile client that can move around with your computer, Movi may have varying quality of network available to it from one sign-in to the next. Movi version 3.0 will adjust faster to these changes using receiver reports and/or SIP updates.
Referring to the network quality on the last calls made enables Movi to start calls with a bandwidth that is as correct as possible.
Intelligent bandwidth distribution
Movi 3.0 will dynamically use all allocated bandwidth to its full extent, which is especially useful in limited bandwidth scenarios. Movi maintains both audio and video for bandwidths from 25kbps, although 128kbps is a recommended minimum for video.
You may also free up bandwidth at any time as a user by muting either audio or video input. For example, muting the camera while showing a presentation is likely to improve the presentation quality because more bandwidth will be available.
Additions to standards support
Movi 3.0 adds support for several standards, described below.
Support for H.263/H.263+
Movi version 3.0 has added support for H.263/H.263+.
Table 1: Resolutions supported for H.263 and H.263+ in Movi 3.0

This will give existing TANDBERG customers a total solution for duo video between Movi and their endpoints

Binary Floor Control Protocol (BFCP)
Movi 3.0 adds support for RFC 4582, also known as the Binary Floor Control Protocol (BFCP) to allow for improved handling of duo video. With interworking support on the TANDBERG VCS, Movi will be able to handle H.239 duo video to endpoints using H.323.
H.264 static macro block signaling
Movi 3.0 supports signaling of optional H.264 parameters in compliance with RFC 3984. This means that higher resolutions can be supported while keeping a 30fps framerate (for typical video conferencing scenes) towards endpoints such as those in the TANDBERG MXP product line.
Codec switching
The client also supports codec switching for one or both of the duo video streams. Movi will automatically switch to sending and/or receiving H.263 if the far end does not support H.264.
DNS SRV
To connect to the VCS, Movi 3.0 uses DNS SRV records, as defined in RFC 2782. The use of SRV records allows for greater redundancy and flexibility when deploying Movi in large networks.
For more information on Movi's use of DNS SRV, refer to the TANDBERG Movi administrator guide.

Other changes since 2.2
Information banner and Conference information
An Information button (i) is available at the top of the video window when moving the mouse inside the window. The in call information banner can be pinned to always be present. Click the i to access Conference information, which contains traffic information that may be of use to an administrator or support personnel, for example when troubleshooting faulty connections.
Multiway participant
Movi version 3.0 supports Multiway participation, meaning that the Movi user may be put on hold or transferred to another conference.
Version information
Information about the currently installed version of Movi will now be found in the About box in the Settings dialog.
Improved warnings and notifications to user
Movi 3.0 adds better feedback to end users in several scenarios, such as:
• The user will now be notified when an incoming call has been set to audio only (the far-end camera has been turned off) or the call is downscaled to audio for bandwidth reasons.
• Movi will provide a more detailed error message when the camera is used by another application, when the camera is not connected, or something else is preventing Movi from reading from camera.
Resolved issues
• Unchecking the Enable tray notifications option in the settings now disables the "balloon"-style notification messages from the systray.
• Movi is now compatible with the Microsoft LifeCam VX-5000. For an overview of tested, supported and unsupported cameras, see this FAQ article.
• Movi will now cleanly disconnect if Windows is shut down or restarted during a call.

TANDBERG Video Communication Server Software Version X4.3 now available! November 2009 10 November 2009

New Features
X4.3 is a maintenance only release. No new features or functionality are included within this version over the previous release, X4.2.1.

Changes and Improvements since the Previous Version

Security
• Improved the security of the web interface to ensure that the system will not, under any circumstances, allow an authenticated user to escalate their session to more advanced privileges [Ref # 65050].
• All of the web pages on the VCS have now been modified to time out any connection that remains inactive for approximately 24 hours [Ref # 56200].

SIP
• X4.3 resolves an issue that might cause the system to unexpectedly restart if a 'From' header was improperly missing from an incoming '200 OK' response that the VCS expects to receive from an outbound request.
• The VCS will no longer unexpectedly restart upon receiving a 'Supported:' header with no values included within an incoming INVITE message [Ref # 66427].
• The VCS will now properly allocate resources for SIP presence subscriptions, preventing a potential small memory leak on the system [Ref # 71029].

Interworking
• An issue that would cause instability within the VCS when, during an H.323-to-SIP interworking call, a provisional SIP response is received in response to a re-INVITE sent by the VCS [Ref # 66072].
• If a re-INVITE is received from the an endpoint registered on the VCS that contains an SDP offer listing the video capabilities prior to the audio capabilities and the call is eventually routed to an H.323 endpoint, causing the VCS to interwork, the VCS may enter a state of instability. This has been resolved [Ref # 64720].
• The VCS will now properly interpret all forms of BFCP messaging when connecting an interworking call from a SIP device to an H.323 device [Ref # 70444].

Provisioning
• Resolved an issue within the back-end provisioning functionality that would cause a memory leak on the VCS, forcing the provisioning service to stop functioning. In order to restore, the VCS had to be rebooted [Ref # 68483, 68907, 69040].
• Improved the Provisioning service to better handle large network loads and registration requests. The service will also now respond with a SIP 480 Temporarily Unavailable message if the service becomes overloaded [Ref # 70376].
• If the Provisioning Service is down, the VCS will now return a "Service Unavailable" reject code to the client, rather than a "Wrong Username/Password" error that would have been returned previously [Ref # 68551].

Clustering
• Improved the bandwidth sharing mechanism between two clustered VCS's to ensure all resources are properly released after a call is disconnected [Ref # 70209].

System
• The VCS will no longer exhibit instability and potentially restart unexpectedly if it receives an incoming registration request from an endpoint containing H.235 authentication criteria that is composed of a valid timestamp and username, but an invalid hash [Ref # 71019].

Interoperability
• An interoperability issue that would prevent the Cisco MCU from properly registering to the VCS if the MCU attempted to register more than 10 conference aliases or prefixes has been resolved [Ref # 66510].

• Fixed an issue that caused no video on a Codian MCU when dialing from a system directly registered on a VCS Express using Assent (ref. #68500).

System
• Fixed an issue causing the C20 to not light the LED alarm light if it was booted up without Ethernet (ref. 68440).
• Fixed an issue causing HTTPS to not work if HTTP was disabled (ref. #67682).

Video
• Fixed an issue which could cause occasional blinking/black window in a C60 MultiSite call (ref. #66804).

• Fixed an issue causing the composite input to be encoded as a 16/9 image (ref. #68366).
• Improved handling of analog signals DVI-A and component inputs by adding jitter removal logic, which could cause visible random video line shifts (ref. #68296).
• Modified the AGC (Automatic Gain Control) for sources with non-compliant component signal, where the horizontal sync depth is too shallow. This will prevent the image becoming too bright when connecting a Sony EVI HD1 camera (ref. #68940).
• Fixed an issue causing zebra stripes in the encoder (ref. #60656).

Audio
• Fixed an issue which could cause a sudden reboot if an endpoint dials into a MultiSite capable endpoint with one or more calls on hold (ref. #68822, #67390 and #68764).
• Fixed an issue causing the button on the TANDBERG Precision Mic 20 to require two presses to change state (ref. #67010).

• Formatted API help text to be more readable (ref. #68313).
• Corrected an issue causing time zone to not be set from TMS (ref. #69252).
• Fixed feedback for event 'press key' and 'release key', so the feedback doesn't continue to be transmitted after the 'key release' command (ref. #68108).

Introduction
These release notes describe the features and capabilities included in the TANDBERG Movi software version 2.2 released on 1 October 2009.

Note: An upgrade of Movi from 2.1 to 2.2 is not needed unless it is deployed within a VCS cluster.

Changes and Improvements since Previous Version
Movi 2.2 is a maintenance only release. No new features or functionality are included within this version over the previous release.

Configuration
It is now possible to re-check "Start TANDBERG Movi at Windows Login" once that setting is unchecked [Ref # 65283].

Interoperability
