Product Description
The Polycom® V²IU series enables reduced costs for your enterprise, by simplifying deployment, management and security of converged video, voice and data networks. This is the ideal solution for enterprises that need to enhance Inter-office connectivity and collaboration, or migrate from ISDN to IP-based network connectivity.
Many organizations achieve functions scalable for future needs by initially deploying the Polycom 5300-E series with a 10 Mbps performance license. When additional bandwidth is required, simply upgrade the 5300-E to a 25 Mbps license using a software license key, to avoid expensive hardware forklifts or replacements.
The Polycom® V²IU 5300-E is also a VoIP and video-aware solution, with NAT(Network Address Translation) and Firewall traversal issues resolved by performing video and voice NAT at the public/private IP address boundary. This eliminates security risks posed by other traversal methods that 'tunnel' or obscure video and voice traffic at the existing perimeter.
The Polycom® V²IU 5300-E employs a stateful packet inspection firewall in combination with an application layer gateway, providing comprehensive application-aware security. This approach enables the Polycom® V²IU 5300-E to dynamically provision and close TCP and UDP ports as needed, by video and voice endpoints.
Optimizing the quality of your video and voice calls is easy, as the Polycom® V²IU 5300-E routes video and voice traffic via the shortest path possible, to minimize jitter, latency, and packet loss.
At the same time, bandwidth not in use by video or voice is made available so that data traffic can burst up to its full line rate, maximizing WAN bandwidth. This traffic management, combined with video and voice call admission control, allows the administrator to effectively manage video and voice to deliver a high-quality networking experience.
For organizations with multiple locations, including home workers, Polycom’s NAT/Firewall traversal solution is a cost effective approach that allows all members of the organization to call each other and people outside their organization seamlessly.
VSX video conferencing endpoints and V2IU NAT/firewall traversal devices are now compliant with the ITU-T H.460 standard.
Organizations gain additional dialing scenarios by taking advantage of both H.460 and V2IU NAT/firewall traversal device. Dial any IP number whether at home, on the road or in the office.
Locations with three or less Polycom VSX video conferencing endpoints can use the built in H.460 support to call other locations within the organization, or people outside the organization.
Locations with more than four Polycom VSX video conferencing endpoints should choose the most appropriate V2IU for their location to guarantee quality of service, least cost routing and traffic shaping. Solutions include:
- Polycom V2IU 4300 - up to 9 concurrent calls @ 384Kbps
- Polycom V2IU 5300 E10 - up to 30 concurrent calls @384Kbps
- Polycom V2IU 5300 E25 - up to 60 concurrent calls @384Kbps
- Polycom V2IU 6400 E85 - up to 220 concurrent calls @384Kbps
Quality of Service (QoS): With the V2IU product line QoS is maintained from beginning to end with shortest path routing.
Traffic Shaping: The V2IU through packet inspection shapes the packets to guarantee the least amount of lost packets, ensuring a better video conferencing experience.
The Polycom V2IU with H.460 support enables remote users such as road warriors or small remote offices to access video conferencing from any location.
